Our country India is broadly divided into six zones i.e, North, South, East, West, Central, North-East. Every state has something precious into it, either we talk about Crown of India i.e, Jammu and Kashmir or Heart of the country Delhi. Lets precisely understand about them.

North India

  • It comprising  Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.
  • Jammu and Kashmir popularly known as “Paradise on Earth”, and is famous for its natural beauty and picturesque.
  • Himachal Pradesh is famous for its popular hill stations like Shimla, Manali, Gushaini etc.
  • Delhi is the capital city of the country and this makes it special among all.
  • Haryana, the place gains main importance because of its several historic battles like Mahabharat, 3 battles of Panipat.
  • Punjab, famously termed as “land of Five rivers”, and is famous for its religious diversity as many religious movements were started from there.

South India

  • It comprises Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep.

  • Tamil Nadu is famous for its temples and architecture, food,and classical Indian dance.

  • Lakshadweep is famous for rich marine life, beach destination and coral reefs. The islands are also known for pearl fishing and are a major supplier of sea food.
  • Note: Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep are the Unionterritories of India

East India

  • It includes Bihar, Jharkhand, odisha and West Bengal.
  • Bihar is well established its name from history as the oldest university “Nalanda University” is here in this state.
  • Jharkhand mainly known for its vast forest resources and  minerals like iron ore, coal, copper ore, bauxite, graphite, limestone, and uranium etc.
  • Odisha is mainly famous for its temple city Bhubaneswar, Silver city cuttack and Spiritual city Puri.
  • West Bengal is famous around the country for its Durga Puja, Terracotta temples of Bishnupur, Hazarduari Palace(largest staircase in India).

West India

  • West zone of India well established its name because of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
  • Dadra and Nagar Haveli is famous for the  Church of Our Lady of Piety and the Hindu temples including Bindrabin temple and Swaminarayan Temple.
  • Daman and Diu mainly includes Gangeshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, Nagoa Beach.
  • Goa is known for its Beautiful beaches, nightlife party, carnival and Water sports.
  • Gujarat is well known for its Asiatic Lions, The white desert of Rann of Kutch, its handicrafts, and its many religious sites. 
  • Maharastra, famous for  its caves,  rock-cut architecture in Ajanta Ellora Caves (listed in UNESCO as World Heritage Site) and Some of its temples as they are over 1000 years old.
  • Note: Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu are also the Union territories of India

North- East India

  • It comprises Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland,Tripura and Sikkim.
  • Other than Sikkim all the other seven states are called as seven sisters.
  • Assam has lot of things to remember either it is its tea or silk, almost everthing is famou. As it is the first oil drilling site of Asia, it is the home to the  one-horned Indian rhinoceros, along with the wild water buffalo, pygmy hog, tiger and various species of Asiatic birds, and provides one of the last wild habitats for the Asian elephant.
  • Arunachal Pradesh, also known as “Land of rising Sun”, and is famous for its green forests, calming beauty, and mountains.
  • Manipur is famous for Loktak Lake and the Khonghampat Orchidarium.
  • Meghalaya is famous for its excessive rainfall, subtropical forests and biodiversity.
  • Mizoram is famous for Phawngpui (the highest mountain peak).
  • Nagaland is famous for Hornbill festival that is held every year.
  • Tripura is famous for Orange Gardens, Pineapple Gardens, Rubber Gardens,  Bamboo plantation, Tea Plantation, etc.
  • Sikkim is famous for Kangchenjunga (highest peak of India and third largest in world).

Central India

  • It comprises states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
  • Chattisgarh is known for folk dance, art and culture,  mega industries and agriculture productivity.
  • Madhya Pradesh is well established name for Khajuraho temples , Sanchi Stupa situated in capital city Bhopal.
  • Uttrakhand is also reffered as “DevBhoomi or Land of God”, and also known for its many hill stations like Landsdowne, Mussoorie, Dhanaulti etc.
  • Uttar Pradesh is famous for Taj Mahal(one of the seven wonders of world), Mathura and Ayodhya birthplace of Lord Krishna and Lord Rama.
