Hellooo everyone, I am back with another beauty of nature with me. Yah I know you people were waiting for me to come with another exciting place. Dont worry this time I am back with such a beautiful, and unspoilt hill station, after come to know about this place I am sure you will definately forget every tension of your life and plan a visit there.
Yes guyz I am talking about Landsdowne, a small but definately a beautiful and quitest hill station in Uttrakhand I had ever seen. It is most quitest, less crowded, not over developed and relatively undiscovered hill station. One more exciting thing of our Indian defence is related with this hill station, the famous Garhwal Rifles of the Indian Army has its command office here.
Landsdowne is surrounded by thick oak and blue pine forest of Pauri Garhwal district offering a great mountain view. The forest are lovely dark and deep, just ideal for those walk and picnics. There are amazing mountain views of the western Himalayas from a number of vantage points like Snow view and Tiffin Top.
HOW TO REACH:
- BY TRAIN: Two trains run from Delhi to Kotdwar (Mussorie Express and Garhwal Express).
- BY Road : From Kotdwar it’s about 40 km away and from Haridwar, a bus to Kotdwara will take approximately an hour to reach there.
- BY AIR : The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, near Dehradun at a distance of 152 km via Kotdwar-Haridwar road.
The other and better route to reach Lansdowne is from Delhi via Meerut, Bijnore, Najibabad, Kotdwar and on to Lansdowne. It saves about 50 km and the road quality is also good all the way to Kotdwar. One has to take a right turn from NH-119 at a place where The Garhwal Rifles has put a huge signboard by painting the directions on rocks.

ACTIVITIES TO PERFORM:
If you want to enjoy the experience of Bird watching, than you can visit this place. Trekking, Boating and Paddling are some other activities that you can perform there at this beautiful place.
ATTRACTION POINTS AT LANDSDOWNE:
Places of interest around the around the city include tip n top, bhula lake, St. mary church, Darwan singh museum, Bhim Pakora, Hawagarh, Tarkeshwar Mahadev temple and War memorial, which was located at the parade ground of Garhwal rifles. These places adds the star to the beauty of this place.
NEARBY PLACES WHICH YOU SHOULD VISIT:
- Famous Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple with its special Shivalinga and a Kund known as Gauri Kund is situated 39 km away from Lansdowne. People take bath in Gauri Kund before entering the temple.
- Two other famous temples, Durga Devi Temple and Jwalpa Devi, which are on the Pauri-Kotdwar road are 24 km and 47 km away respectively. Durga Devi Temple is one of the oldest Siddha Pithas in India.
- Kanvashram, a well-known landmark is situated 14 km from Kotdwar railway station.
BEST SEASON TO VISIT:
Best season to visit Lansdowne is from March to November avoiding freezing winters.
